Philosophy
I believe education is a process of careful instruction and unrestrained self-discovery. As a graduate student at Utah State University, I have refined my individual learning style and prepared to help others to receive excellent instruction.

My personal philosophy is "Whatever I choose to do, I will do it well." This has applied to every project I have attempted since my youth including educational, professional and artistic pursuits. I am passionate about doing an excellent job and making a significant contribution to my field.

Whatever I chose to do, I will do it well

The experiences I had while completing my undergraduate degree taught me how much I value education itself. I served an LDS mission and taught for two and a half years at the Missionary Training Center, helping young people with a wide range of abilities including students with learning disabilities and English language learners.

I completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Audiology and Speech/Language Pathology at Brigham Young University. As an audiology student, I worked with Dr. Kim H. Manwaring M.D., on a device that monitors pressure in the brain. This project taught me the value of collaboration and gave me a deep respect for the vast knowledge base in medicine and technology.

Concurrently, I gathered all the experience I could in the performing and visual arts. I studied choral conducting, vocal performance, and audio recording and received a minor in music. I performed with Spire Music and the Legacy Choral (now the Utah Choral Artists) as a guest baritone soloist. I worked as an audio engineer at the Motion Picture Studio in Provo, Utah. I have used my skills at Draper Historic Theatre as a performer, sound technician, and graphic artist.

These experiences, and many others, led me to the unique field of Instructional Technology. For me, this field is a perfect blend of science and art, filled with technical principles and intuitive choices. My volunteer and professional experience has given me the opportunity to blend my varied interests into a fulfilling whole. The most exciting thing about what I do is that I never stop learning.
